Studio Visit

Nathan Lewis from Gorky's Granddaughter on Vimeo.

Here is a video of a recent studio visit and interview where I talk about my current work and take them into one of the factories I've been painting.

  1. nathan: liked your video related to your discussions in the dilapidated building and artist studio (moving back and forth between the two venues). i too have been moved by seeing an old office or building and then imagining what must have taken place in the days of activity. it's almost as if someone is communicating with you and you feel the life. your drawings always seem to have a deeper message than the straightforward interpretation of the objects --- they combine to tell another story beyond the figures. the combination is powerful. it's like one of my current projects with a graduate student who is interested in the history of science. i tell him the story is more than a chronological summary of a scientist's life. when you write the words of the story they should conjure up more than the facts---stimulate the reader and draw the reader into the story. you do it well nathan in your work.
    best wishes,
