Me trying to look like David Byrne

Tenacious Terrier

This is how our Jack Russell terrier, Moko, greets April when she arrives home from school. Not exactly a peck on the cheek, but she means well.

More pictures!

Lots of photos! Ok, the first one is from Thursday; Dad and and I drove down to Sacramento. He had an eye exam scheduled and also wanted to visit Janet and Don. So, it was a fun morning with me having five minutes to get ready since my alarm didn't go off! Dad's appointment went well and he even let me drive after his pupils were dilated! Janet had major surgery about two weeks ago and demonstrated the Lewis resilience with aplomb. Don was his stalwart self and we also got to meet Don's mother's caregiver, Rosie, shown in the picture.

Center pic, Mom is very skeptical of the computer age but is gradually warming to "photo booth" on the Mac! mom is continuing to get stronger despite some setbacks and we are very grateful for every day that we have.

Finally, my nephew Pancho made the H.S. football team in Alameda. He's in 9th grade now; how did this happen? driver's permit is next! I think he looks like a tough Oakland Raider in this pic. I can't remember what his position is (have no clue about football unfortunately) but he's already being slammed on the field of play.

Nico - These Days

what a classic! Enjoy.

updates

I turned 40 at the end of the Summer. Here is Joy with a plate of Caprese (mozzarella, basil, and tomato with balsamic) for the party.

This is Joy at one of the many Yankee games we went to. Neither of us thought they would make it to the World Series this year, so we were not surprised to see them get knocked out of the first round of the play offs.

An Artist friend of mine got married over the summer at Mystic Aquarium. Here is a pic of Joy and I at the dinner. My friend got married in front of the Beluga whale tank. They were serenaded by a mariachi band. Perhaps you have seen the video below of the mariachi band playing to the whale? This was from the wedding. It has about 2 million hits now.

Glad to see that you guys have posted on the blog, I was losing hope. The semester has started and is incredibly busy, but going well.

Movie Clip!

Don't mind the title, you must look at this clip. Abe Sylvia is a friend of a friend; we all went to school in Norman, Oklahoma and it is SOOO amazing to see Abe's dream of being a filmmaker come true. I can't wait to see the whole movie!

Norman, Ok. gets opening credit- to die for! (the hair and accents are spot-on!)

Dirty Girl - Official Trailer

Tired!

I decided to catch up on blogging after an embarrassing absence. It's not you, it's me! After a nightmarish summer school schedule I crashed and burned (not literally) but after all the events of last semester and then 7-hour a day study sessions for my physical anthro class plus American history I hit the wall with school. So, this fall after being unable to function after a full week of courses I reluctantly dropped to one class (fortunately, it is a class I love!) to maintain my academic standing at college. I am starting to feel like a normal person again and even able to write sentences again! Never fear, every day has been full of lots of activity but my new guilty pleasure is to watch DVD episodes of "The Bionic Woman" (the seventies were great, huh?) I loved that show back when- Debra and I had a Bionic Woman doll. October has been crazy too. I'm up tonight after filling out more forms for financial aid, scholarships, and college applications. Transfer is coming up! I'll keep you updated, and hang tight everybody with everything you are all doing in all corners of the globe!

Dad and Student

Here is Dad and his graduate student Matt on a summer day. Matt offered the use of his pickup truck to carry a huge piece of plexiglass to cover our kitchen window as a brace against the snow. The snow broke one of the double panes of glass a few years ago and Dad came up with the plexiglass solution. Worked great until last year when the epic snowfalls broke it in shards. Had to cover the window with boards until the thaw.
Dad and Matt have been hard at work on a history of science paper on Herbert Riehl. Wowser! IT has been a job. We're still tripping over the piles of drafts all over the house!

Self -Portrait

Hopefully it's not too late (weren't we supposed to share artwork?) but here is a picture of Nicole at school with her self-portrait (lower right hand corner) I love the rainbow, her hair, all the colors, the smile! she is a very talented artist. She's also wearing a Justin Bieber t-shirt. She can sing "Baby" with every word and nuance perfectly done! What a gal!
