Doubling Down

In black jack, when you are dealt good cards (that add up to ten or eleven) you should double down, hoping for another ten. After ten years together (which have flown by), I asked Joy to marry me. I have every indication that the years to follow will be as lovely and crazy as they have been so far.

The Eighties Are Back!

It wasn't easy, but I tracked down the "tube sock" photo! My memory failed - it looks like Gene and Matthew opted out of the sock trend- at least for this photo! This week's issue of People Style Watch (my reading has declined significantly with the semester's end) has Liv Tyler photographed in similar socks. I guess everything old is new again!

DIY alert!

I couldn't resist posting this photo of Matthew back in the day. Bondo- I think we used that also on the "wings" of the '76 Cadillac. I believe I have a photo in the archives with Debra, Matthew, and Nathan all sporting 80's chic in the form of knee-high tube socks. I'll have to find it!

Well, it's been a while. But first, let me congratulate Nathan and Joy on their impending nuptials!

We couldn't pick out just any generic wedding card for you guys so I spent about 20 minutes finding the perfect one. Mom did some preliminary work, and Dad completed the "customization". So hopefully you are interested now! I will mail it out tomorrow. Unfortunately with Mom's surgery cross-country trips are not going to work so we will have to hear about the event from afar...but I'm counting on some good blog postings and seeing some great pictures of the big event.

On my front I have one week left of the semester, finals tomorrow, and all week actually. I am enclosing a picture that should reflect my neurotic state of being. (btw I love really unflattering photos and even with the delete option on digital I rarely use it!) Quick! What are the seven leading causes of WWI? I will post some pictures next week that are more fun- I promise! Mom is lined up for the hip surgery on May 24th and Dad is working hard as always. We have a new refrigerator, I am swimming laps, and making a stir fry in a few minutes. This weekend I'm volunteering at a chef cook -off . So if I pick up some good recipes, I'll let you know. Take care, everyone- and wish for me not good luck, but to break a leg on my four finals!!!
