Caught Me'Self a Mole!!!

Been trying to catch a mole that has been wrecking our front lawn since we got here. After months of trying, i dug one up. Cute little bugger. He was relocated to an elementary school down the road.

  1. The National Audubon Society Pocket Guide, "Familiar Mammals of North America", states that the Eastern Mole is "the bane of anyone who likes a well-tended lawn. This mole makes extensive and conspicuous tunnels just below the surface of the ground. These shallow tunnels are temporary, made as the mole moves along searching for earthworms and burrowing insects. More permanent burrows, including a nest chamber for the four or five young born in the spring, are deeper in the soil. With a gestation period of 90 days, a single mole colony can easily swell to a great number. When a mole is relocated, its unerring homing sense allows it to return to its nest from as far as 10-12 square miles away, known as the "Lassie" syndrome by scalopus aquaticus researchers.
