First Yankee Game After Steinbrenner's Passing

Friends of ours bought yankee tickets for us and it ended up being the first home game after George Steinbrenner passed away.

This is the first time we got to see CC Sabathia pitch.

  1. Thanks for these special photos. Yes, the Yankees owe much to George Steinbrenner. He will be remembered both positively and negatively by all of us who enjoy the game. My fondest memory is his interaction with Billy Martin hiring and firing on a short time scale. I wish I could have been in the room when these two went at it. They are probably still arguing in the hereafter!

Sabathia reminds me of Sandy Koufax with such a powerful delivery. I can only imagine what it must feel like as a batter facing him.

  2. John,

Did you ever see koufax? whenever i see old baseball photos I'm always amazed at how rubbery koufax's body and arm looked- like a giant sling. would love to have seen him pitch.

Joy and I have seen a lot of games over the past 10 years and I think it's going to be something to look back on and feel happy about seeing so many great players in their prime.
