Ok, we made it to March! This is our 13th winter here (hard to believe!) and it is always a joy to make it to March. January and February are usually our toughest months. Today birds were singing and a little earth was showing under the icy cover of snow. A mosquito drowned in the spa today so I know its getting warmer (Wordsworth could make a poem for that, but I think I'll pass!). Mom is planning her hip surgery the week after my school lets out. She has been incredibly brave and stoic facing the impairment and it will be a challenge but very worth the pain of surgery and rehab. I am busy with 12 credits this semester (communications, Western civ., "personal development: college success", and intro to archaeology. (I decided to ease up and skip math this semester!!!). Dad is working hard as usual on his science: "Dust Storm in the Black Rock Desert" which I tease him is an excuse to do "field research" at Burning Man. Hope you are all enjoying the unfolding of spring, wherever you are in this great big world. Here's a photo I took last week near the summit.

  1. Geneva - I hope you enjoy archaeology more than I did. I flunked it, as it was the same night as the foreign film night, so I always skipped. Passed it second time, though. Hope Sherry comes through surgery ok. Tell your Dad that we went ATVing up at Soldier Meadows near the Black Rock Desert. Betty

  2. Dear Betty: Thanks for your kind message. I envy my younger classmates who have a much better approach to class...I used to be like them but can't go back!
I'll give Mom and Dad your messages and take care!
