Hi all! 2009 has been an amazing year with incredible challenges but also amazing miracles. I have made 7 trips (by car) to LA.
wish the best for all, Merry Christmas, and kudos to Nathan for putting together this family blog so we can all keep in touch. Love to all of you throughout the world! Geneva
Great to see pics and keep up to date on everything, Geneva. Did Morrissey play Smiths songs? Are you going to school in LA or Reno?
ReplyDeleteYeah, Morrissey played Smiths songs! When I saw him eighteen years ago in concert, he had legal/copywright issues and couldn't play the songs he had written while in the Smiths. He sang "How Soon Is Now". "Cemetry Gates" (one of my top ten lifetime favorite songs!) and a couple more for good measure along with his fantastic new songs from "Years of Refusal" album and b-side album "Swords". It was an amazing concert and at 50 he has incredible stamina and singing/lyrical ability. LA is his (adopted) hometown crowd so there was great energy. I also won tickets to see him perform live on the George Lopez show the afternoon before. Unfortunately, it was the same time as my doctor's appointment and a ways away in Burbank (My doctor sees patients only one day a week, in the aftrernoon, because he's a researcher). Couldn't do it! But I have the email from his publicist as a memento...I'm going to school right in Truckee, at our local JC, Sierra College. I though it might be an easy entry back to school but every class has been bloody hard! It is very high quality, though, cheap (relatively) and convenient...credits transfer right to UC or CSU systems.
ReplyDeletejoy is a big Smiths fan, particularly of Johnny Marr, and The Queen is Dead album. I know Marr plays for Modest Mouse now. Very different from the Smiths.
ReplyDeleteI went to JC in Sacto and had some great teachers. It was $3 a credit when i started!
