The Photography of John Lewis

Don't know if you all know this, but John Lewis, Dick's son, who I remember growing up was called John John, is an incredible photographer. I asked him permission to post a few of his photos, so you could see how good they are.

This was from a photojournalistic project titled gospel.

John Edwards on the campaign

A great pic of Obama

recognize this guy?

He also has photos of Larry King and Roger Clemens on his site. There are far too many great photos to post here, so you guys have to check out his website, HERE.

(John, tell us about the photo shoot with Obama. And who is the guy with Roger Clemens?)

  1. Have camera, will travel. John, I wonder if you've extrapolated a philosophy from your pictures. My favorite is the Clint Eastwood/John Wayne character. Odd resemblance to a family member named Michael. Looks to me like you're searching for a narrative, a theme to tie your quite delicate, introspective, subtle, curious images together. But then again that's how someone addicted to statements in language always thinks, reflexively. dp

  2. Hello there- I remember hearing that John Richard (that is what we always called you!) was interested in being a photographer and it is wonderful to see the dream come true -though I'm sure not without lots of hard work, dedication, and commitment. Congratulations! I am a political junkie so I loved the Obama and Edwards photos. Tell us some stories about how you got those! The "Gospel" photos were really compelling, too..I saw more of them on your website. But of course, Michael photographed with that timeless/Western iconographic feeling- Wow! Best, Geneva
